Reyes Urges Journalists to Choose Credibility Over Clicks
TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines — With the theme “Beyond Likes and Shares: Responsible Campus Journalism in the Digital Ecosystem,” Ahlette C. Reyes reminded campus journalists of their responsibility to deliver accurate information during the Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) on September 11, 2026.

She explained that journalists serve as a torch that delivers information to the public, helping inspire people and build stronger communities, especially as journalism continues to move into digital platforms where audiences are increasingly found.
“The audience is no longer the receiver of the information but rather they are part of the news process,” Reyes said.
To maintain the validity and accuracy of information, Reyes advised journalists to check the source, verify the information, examine its context, confirm details with authorities, and only then publish the article.
