Delivering the welcome message, Concurrent Chief Mark Chester Anthony G. Tamayo reminded journalists that true journalism is not determined by how viral a piece of media becomes, but by its commitment to truth and accuracy.
“Journalism should be measured by its impact, not by how many reactions it has,” Tamayo stated.
He stressed that each journalist plays a crucial role that extends far beyond merely reporting facts. Their ultimate duty, he said, is to shape minds with truth and help build stronger, more informed communities.
“Journalists, every photo, article, and broadcast you produce must inspire and hold truth,” Tamayo highlighted.
Tamayo also emphasized that journalists must uphold integrity in their work, noting that public trust is one of the most valuable assets a journalist can possess.
“Journalists must always remain factual and objective, even when reporting on individuals they know personally,”Tamayo added.
